Questions about the Synesso MVP Hydra 2 Group Espresso Machine8

What brew modes does the MVP Hydra offer?

Each group head can run in Manual, Semi-Automatic or Full Volumetric mode. In manual mode the barista controls a 4-stage pressure ramp, and the profile can then be saved and repeated automatically. Each group head stores up to 6 recipes, set from the handheld controller.

What makes the MVP Hydra different from the S-Series?

The MVP Hydra has an individual pump and motor for every group head, so each group can run its own pressure profile at the same time. It adds 4-stage pressure ramping and manual pressure profiling. The S-Series uses a single pump with auto-volumetric recipes and adjustable pre-infusion in a lower profile body, and is aimed at cafes that want simple, consistent operation.

What electrical service does the MVP Hydra need?

All MVP Hydra models run on 220 V, single phase, on a dedicated circuit. Synesso's installation guides list 16 A for the 1 Group, 30 A for the 2 Group and 36 A for the 3 Group. The machine ships without a plug: a qualified electrician or espresso technician fits a correctly rated plug and receptacle or wires it per local code.

What are the water and drain requirements for the MVP Hydra?

A filtered cold water line with at least 50 psi line pressure and a 3/8 in MPT fitting with shut-off valve.

A drain within 4 feet of the machine, with a 1/2 in air gap.

A 2.5 in (minimum) cut-out in the counter for hoses and cords. A pressure regulator is included for areas with high line pressure; a line boost is available where pressure is low.

Can the MVP Hydra be customized?

Yes. Synesso offers custom RAL powder coating for the panels and wood accent kits (maple, black walnut or white oak) for the portafilter, group and steam handles. These are add-on options; contact us for a quote before ordering.

What warranty comes with a Synesso espresso machine?

Synesso commercial machines (MVP Hydra and S-Series) carry Synesso's limited 2 Year Plus warranty. Selected components, such as the machine body, frame, heating elements, wire harness and flow meters, are covered by a limited 5 year warranty, and Synesso's patented group head activation switches carry a lifetime warranty.

The ES.1 has its own limited warranty of 13 months from the date of shipment. All warranties require proper water treatment and are void without it.

Do Synesso machines need water treatment?

Yes. Synesso requires water treatment to keep the full machine warranty. Synesso does not prescribe one filter brand, because water quality varies by region; have your water tested by a water treatment specialist and choose a system that meets the water standards in the owner's manual.

Where are Synesso machines made?

Synesso machines are designed, engineered and hand-built to order in Seattle, Washington, where the company has built espresso machines since 2004. Synesso is part of Middleby Coffee.
