Questions about the Nuova Simonelli Oscar Mood Pour Over Espresso Machine6

What is the difference between the Oscar Mood Pour Over and Direct Connect versions?

Both versions are the same 1 group machine with a 2 liter boiler, PID temperature control, a display screen, time-based dosing, 110 V and 1200 W. The Pour Over version has a 3 liter removable water tank that you fill by hand. The Direct Connect version has no tank and connects to a dedicated cold water line.

What electrical supply does the Oscar Mood need?

110 V (range 110 to 125 V), 1200 W, 10 A, with a standard NEMA 5-15 receptacle, per the US distributor spec sheet.

Does the Oscar Mood need a water line and drain?

Pour Over: fills from the 3 liter removable tank, so no water line is needed. Drain style is a removable drip tray.
Direct Connect: needs a dedicated 3/8 in cold water line with a shut-off valve and compression fitting. Required water: hardness 3 gpg or 50 ppm, line pressure 2 to 4 bar, minimum flow 1 GPM, filtration of 1.0 micron or finer, TDS 50 to 250 ppm, alkalinity 10 to 150 ppm, chlorine 0.50 or less, pH 6.5 to 8.5. Drain style is a removable drip tray.

How big is the Oscar Mood?

The Oscar Mood is 12 in wide, 16 in deep and 16 in high. The spec sheet recommends a counter space of 14 in wide, 16 in deep and 16 in high, and the machine has a 2 liter boiler.

What warranty comes with Nuova Simonelli espresso machines?

Nuova Simonelli espresso machines carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty, according to the US distributor. If a part is defective, the claim is made with the Defective Part Warranty Claim Form, which is available in the documents section of this page.

Does my Nuova Simonelli machine need a water softener or filter?

A water softener is mandatory whenever the incoming water does not meet the water specifications Nuova Simonelli requires. Running a machine on water outside those specs voids the warranty. A water filter is also recommended to protect the machine and keep your coffee tasting consistent.
