Questions about the Nuova Simonelli MDXS Doser Espresso Grinder5

What is the difference between the MDXS Doser, Doser with Shutoff, Core On Demand and On Demand Digit versions?

Doser: classic doser grinder with a manual workflow, no programmable dosing and no LCD display.
Doser with Shutoff: the same doser grinder with an automatic dosing chamber shutoff.
Core On Demand and On Demand Digit: on-demand versions that grind straight into the portafilter, with programmable dosing and an LCD display.

All versions share the same 8.5 x 11.5 x 24 inch footprint, 1.6 kg hopper, 65 mm burrs and 110 V power supply, per the US distributor.

What electrical supply does the MDXS need?

Every MDXS version runs on 110 V (110-125 V range), draws 245 W and 3 A, and uses a NEMA 5-15 plug, so it works on a standard US wall outlet. These figures come from the US distributor spec sheet.

How big is the MDXS and how much does the hopper hold?

The MDXS needs 8.5 in wide x 11.5 in deep x 24 in high of counter space and weighs 30 lb. Shipping weight is 35 lb, in a carton of 16 x 12 x 25 inches. The transparent hopper holds 1.6 kg of beans and the grinder uses 65 mm burrs.

What warranty comes with Nuova Simonelli espresso machines?

Nuova Simonelli espresso machines carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty, according to the US distributor. If a part is defective, the claim is made with the Defective Part Warranty Claim Form, which is available in the documents section of this page.

Does my Nuova Simonelli machine need a water softener or filter?

A water softener is mandatory whenever the incoming water does not meet the water specifications Nuova Simonelli requires. Running a machine on water outside those specs voids the warranty. A water filter is also recommended to protect the machine and keep your coffee tasting consistent.
